Discover Jim's Open Kitchen Too

Walking into Jim's Open Kitchen Too feels like stepping into a place where time slows down and comfort food still means something. Tucked along 9086 OH-14, Streetsboro, OH 44241, United States, this diner-style restaurant has the kind of everyday charm that locals appreciate and travelers remember. I’ve stopped here more than once after a long drive, and each visit has followed the same reassuring pattern: friendly greetings, familiar smells from the grill, and plates that don’t try to reinvent classics-they just get them right.

The menu leans heavily into traditional American diner favorites, and that’s exactly the point. You’ll see hearty breakfasts served all day, burgers that come off the flat-top sizzling, and home-style lunches that feel pulled from a family recipe box. On one visit, I watched a short-order cook work through a breakfast rush, flipping eggs and browning hash browns with the smooth rhythm that only comes from years behind the grill. That open-kitchen setup isn’t just for show; it signals confidence and consistency. When you can see your food being made, trust tends to follow.

Breakfast is where this place quietly shines. The pancakes are fluffy without being cakey, the bacon has that ideal balance between crisp and chewy, and the omelets are packed generously. According to data from the National Restaurant Association, breakfast remains one of the most ordered meals in diners across the U.S., largely because of its value and flexibility, and this spot clearly understands that trend. Portions are practical, prices are reasonable, and the food arrives hot-three things that matter more than fancy plating.

Lunch and dinner bring their own loyal crowd. Burgers are thick and juicy, often paired with fries that taste hand-cut, even if they’re not advertised that way. I once ordered a classic cheeseburger and overheard another table calling it best no-frills burger around, which matched my own experience. Meatloaf, hot roast beef sandwiches, and daily specials rotate based on availability, which keeps regulars curious without straying from what works. That balance between routine and variety is something seasoned restaurateurs often emphasize, and it shows here.

Service plays a huge role in the overall experience. Servers tend to remember faces, and even when they don’t, they treat everyone like a regular. One afternoon, a server noticed a customer hesitating over the menu and offered a quick rundown of the most popular plates, mentioning what most locals order on Fridays. That kind of guidance isn’t scripted; it comes from knowing your crowd and your kitchen.

Reviews from nearby Streetsboro residents often echo similar points: reliable food, welcoming atmosphere, and a location that’s easy to reach whether you’re local or just passing through. While no restaurant is perfect, occasional wait times during peak hours do come up in feedback. Still, those same reviews usually add that the wait feels fair once the food hits the table.

From a broader industry perspective, organizations like the James Beard Foundation often talk about the value of authenticity in American dining. While this diner isn’t chasing awards, it embodies that principle by staying true to its roots. It doesn’t pretend to be trendy, and that honesty resonates.

Jim's Open Kitchen Too fits comfortably into the Streetsboro dining scene by doing something refreshingly simple: serving familiar food, cooked well, in a space where people feel at ease. The process is straightforward-fresh ingredients, practiced cooking methods, and attentive service-but the result is more than the sum of its parts. For anyone scanning menus, checking locations, or reading reviews to decide where to eat, this is one of those places where expectations are met without fuss, and that reliability is exactly why people keep coming back.

  • We were here 3 weeks ago and loved it!!! A teeny tiny little diner with fabulous food and top-notch service. Our waitress Karen, was NOT your stereotypical “Karen”!! She deserves that top tiered tip! Very sweet and attentive, gave us some great recommendations?

  • I got the Waffle with Banana's Foster toppings, scrambled eggs and sausage patties. This is hands down one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. Everything was cooked on point and my coffee was never empty. My waitress was amazing. I will definitely be back. Also...try the homemade cheesecake, delicious.

  • Loved this little gem of a dinner! Came here with my best friend after a hike! Enjoyed some coffee, friendly staff, clean establishment ! Enjoyed the sausage gravy, I would highly recommend trying the Texas French toast with strawberries and whip!!! The chicken sandwich and fries were good as well! It’s the atmosphere and quality people we enjoyed the most! Will definitely make this diner our stop in while traveling through again!

  • Local diner in Streetsboro. The reviews were good. It was a cozy diner with booths, tables and counter seating. I sat at the counter. Service was good. I had the Ultimate Herb Nelson with sausage gravy. It comes as the Herb Nelson with 2 eggs, home fries, chopped onion, American cheese scrambled together. The Ultimate adds bacon, sausage, ham, tomatoes, green peppers & mushrooms. I was asked if I wanted sausage gravy on top. Of course I did. It was excellent. It was a generous portion. It came with a side of toast. I really like the sourdough toast. I saw many nice items come out of the window. Waffles, pancakes, Texas French toast. Many were topped with fruit toppings. Might be what I try next time. That coffee was good also. I would recommend.

  • Love their waffles! We got the red, white, and blue, and the bananas foster. Hot, fresh, and super sweet. Naturally it was super busy for a Sunday brunch, but they’re always worth it.
